Automations
Payments
Apps can take payments through Stripe. The money goes straight to the app billing owner's own Stripe account; appTown never holds it.
#Connect Stripe
The app's billing owner connects their Stripe account once, under Settings → Payments (their own settings, not the app's). Every app they are the billing owner of can then use it in automations. Disconnect it there at any time.
#Take a payment
Use the step Create a Stripe payment link in an automation: for example, when an order is added, create a link for its total and email it to the customer. The link can be saved in a field of the record.
#React to payments
Give an automation the trigger A Stripe payment event and pick the events:
| Event | When |
|---|---|
| Checkout completed | someone paid through a payment link |
| Payment succeeded | a payment went through |
| Payment failed | a payment was declined |
| Refund made | a payment was refunded |
For example: when a checkout completes, set the order's Status to Paid and notify the team.
#Refunds
Refund a Stripe payment refunds a payment from the connected account, for example from a button on an order.
#Test first
Test runs never call Stripe: the log shows the link or refund that would have been made.
