Import and export

Bring data in from a spreadsheet, and take it out whenever you want. Your data is always yours.

#Import a CSV or Excel file

Under Build → Data → a table, choose Import and pick a CSV or Excel (.xlsx) file.

  1. Match columns to fields. appTown suggests a field for each column by name; change or skip any of them.
  2. Choose where it goes: the real data, or the test data (to try an import before doing it for real).
  3. Check and import. Every row is checked like a new record (types, required, unique, validation); rows with problems are listed so you can fix the file and try again.

Imported records are normal records: they get versions, start automations and show live.

#Export

  • A view: every list has Export, as CSV (for spreadsheets), JSON (for code) or SQL (insert statements, for databases).
  • A whole table: under Build → Data → a table, export every record.

#Other ways in and out

  • The REST API reads and writes records from your own code.
  • Automations can add rows to Google Sheets, send webhooks and call any API whenever records change.
